Meet Our Teachers

 

Jennifer Morin (Owner/Dance Instructor/Artistic Director) received the majority of her dance training at Kerry’s Dance Center.  Jennie was a staff instructor at the Studio of Dance Movement Arts, and The Studio of Dance Education both in Exeter.  She has competed throughout New England with the senior dance company from Steppin’ Out Dance Academy.  She has also studied Classical Ballet under the direction of Jim Franklin, and Modern Dance with Amanda Schiller of “Center Stage” fame.  Jennie continues her dance education through seminars and workshops throughout New England.  The most recent workshops were at the Portsmouth Percussive Dance Festival where she danced with tap legend Brenda Buffalino, studied Middle Eastern Dance with Sharon Arslanian, and African Dance with Sekou & Marilyn Sylla.  In July of 2006 she traveled with her dancers to the Plymouth State University Summer Dance Intensive where they performed choreography by PSU Dance Director Joan Weigers.  Jennie has even studied Hip Hop with Jimmy Locust, one of the hottest choreographers in the business.  She most recently choreographed for the Island Pond Baptist Players “The Christmas Shoes” and “The Christmas Post”.  Jennie helped to re-establish competitive dance teams at Kerry’s Dance Center and has traveled throughout New England where her dancers have performed her award winning choreography. KDC is pleased to have her back for her twenty-sixth year as a teacher and first year as our new Artistic Director!

Kelsey Hurrell (Dance Instructor/ Administrative Assistant ) Kelsey started dancing at KDC at the age of 3.  She quickly moved up the ranks to the Senior Dance Team and has worked for several years as an assistant teacher and backstage assistant manager.  She graduated from Pinkerton Academy in Derry NH in 2013.  She currently attends the University of New Hampshire, where she majors in Psychology with a focus in early childhood development.  Her goal is to become a Guidance Counselor for an elementary school. We are so pleased to have Kelsey in the role of the new Administrative Assistant and we are welcoming her back for her third year as a teacher!

 

 Sarah Tubbs (Dance Instructor/ Level 1 Team Coach) graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of New Hampshire where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in both Marketing and Management with a minor in Dance. She was a student at Kerry’s Dance Center for fourteen years training in tap, jazz, ballet, point, acro-jazz, modern, hip-hop and lyrical. During her years at KDC she was an avid student- choreographer, an assistant teacher  and part of the KDC Competition Team. She founded and led the Timberlane Regional High School Dance Team in Plaistow, NH where she graduated from in 2012. In college, Sarah was a member of UNH’s Division I Dance Team and became Captain her last two years. The team attended the National Dance Association National’s competition in Daytona, Florida annually where Sarah led her team to finish as Top 10 finalist amongst the country’s best Div. I Teams during her two years as captain. Her original choreography has been performed in front of thousands of people at UNH’s Cowell Stadium, in local promotional performances, state competitions, showcased at a Boston Celtic’s Game and even on the Miss New Hampshire Stage where she most recently placed as a Top 10 Finalists, receiving the “Passion For The Arts” Scholarship for her dance talent, commitment to growth and community involvement. While training 10-20 hours a week with her team, she also studied tap, jazz, ballet, aerial arts, dance composition and choreography under the direction of Mary Beth Marino and Gay Nardone. Since Sarah left KDC to pursue her college career she has been growing her knowledge and spreading her passion for dance across New Hampshire. Sarah now has a full time Marketing position in Portsmouth, NH, is the current head coach of the Timberlane High Dance Team, teaches master classes throughout the Seacoast, and is training two nights a week on Aerial Silks and Trapeze under the instruction of Karlene Linxwieler, but there is no place she would rather be than KDC where her love for dance began!

Monica Tafelski (Dance Instructor) Monica was an original student when KDC started back in 1988! After dancing for several years, she became an assistant teacher, and then a teacher when she started the “Dance and Twirl” program at KDC. She left the studio to pursue her college degree as a Physical Therapist at Quinnipiac University. In 2002 she got married, and has been busy these last several years raising four children. Last year, she returned as an assistant teacher, and her daughter began as a student. This year we welcome Monica back as a teacher for ages 6-11 years.
