Kerry’s Dance Center Staff - 2009-2010



Kerry Bacheller
Artistic Director & Choreographer

Kerry is an honors graduate of Rivier College and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Pre-Law. She is a graduate of the Barbizon Modeling Agency. She has been dancing since the age of three. She received the majority of her dance training at the Alice Hanley Dance Academy and was a staff instructor there for seven years.

She is a certified member of the National Association Of Dance And Affiliated Artists (NADAA), Dance Masters Of America (DMA), and New Hampshire Dance Alliance (NHDA). She has taken courses in Dance at the University Of Lowell, Massachusetts. She has studied the Graham and Limon Techniques of Modern Dance under the direction of Pierre Barreau, formerly of the Joffrey Ballet, Classical Ballet under the direction of Jim Franklin, and tap under the direction of Drika Overton, creator of “Clara’s Dream – a Jazz Nutcracker” and the Portsmouth Percussive Dance Festival.

Kerry periodically attends teacher’s classes at the Jeanette Neill Studio in Boston, as well as statewide seminars for continuing dance education. She has choreographed for productions of “The Wizard Of Oz”, “Bugsy Malone”, “Annie” and “Guys and Dolls, Jr”. She has been the Director and Choreographer of her own dance studio in Chester, New Hampshire since September of 1988, and has been a teacher of dance for over twenty-five years.

 

Jennifer Morin
Dance Instructor/Assistant Choreographer

Jennifer received the majority of her dance training at Kerry’s Dance Center. Jennie was a staff instructor at the Studio of Dance Movement Arts, and The Studio of Dance Education both in Exeter. She has competed throughout New England with the senior dance company from Steppin’ Out Dance Academy. She has also studied Classical Ballet under the direction of Jim Franklin, and Modern Dance with Amanda Schiller of “Center Stage” fame.

Jennie continues her dance education through seminars and workshops throughout New England. The most recent workshops were at the Portsmouth Percussive Dance Festival where she danced with tap legend Brenda Buffalino, studied Middle Eastern Dance with Sharon Arslanian, and African Dance with Sekou & Marilyn Sylla. In July of 2006 she traveled with her dancers to the Plymouth State University Summer Dance Intensive where they performed choreography by PSU Dance Director Joan Weigers.

Jennie has even studied Hip Hop with Jimmy Locust, one of the hottest choreographers in the business. She most recently choreographed for the Island Pond Baptist Players “The Christmas Shoes” and “The Christmas Post”. Jennie helped to re-establish competitive dance teams at Kerry’s Dance Center and will be the head dance team coach for the seventh consecutive year. She has traveled throughout New England where her dancers have performed her award winning choreography. Kerry is very pleased to have her on the staff for her seventeenth year.

 

Melvinetta Lanseigne
Dance Instructor

Melvinetta began dancing and performing at the age of 14 with the Hemphill High School Dance/Drill Team in Hemphill, Texas and later went on to join the Central College Cheer/Dance Team in McPherson, Kansas where she received her Associates Degree in Communications & Social Work. Mel continued performing in the Plaistow Co-op Show for 3 years before she was asked to join Steppin’ Out Dance Academy in 1990. After assisting for 1 year, she was given the opportunity to teach. Mel has worked with students from the age of 2 up to adults in both recreational and competitive team classes.

She has studied Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Modern, Hip Hop, Spanish Dance and Acro. Mel has competed and performed at many regional and national competitions, such as Disneyworld and Universal Studios in Florida, the Portsmouth Percussive Dance Festival and in the Jeannette Neill Repertory Concert. Her students have also performed at Disneyworld and Universal Studios and competed at several regional and national competitions, many winning High Score, Overall and Cash Awards. She has also won the Teacher of the Year award in 2005 at the Star Systems Competition.

Mel was certified by Fitness Resources in 1998 and completed the Dance Educators of America Certification at UNLV in 2001. She has attended Danzjam Conventions since 2004, including the 2005 New York City Summer Teacher Intensive Program in which she performed at the Danzjam showcase. Mel has taken Master Classes from many teachers including Al Gilbert, Nan Giordano, Charles Kelly Raymond Lukens, Drika Overton, James Franklin, Sue Casey, Jaqui Young, Chad Levy, Dana Fisch, Bryan Perry, Jeannette Neill, Alan Collier, Bryan Steele and Kelly Williams to name a few. We are excited to have Mel join KDC this season.

Sarah Mosonyi
Dance Instructor

Sarah began dancing at the age of 3. Sarah received fifteen years of dance training at Kerry’s Dance Center where she attended many classes including tap, jazz, acro, ballet, pointe, modern and hip hop. Sarah also was a member of the senior dance team at Kerry’s Dance Center for two seasons. She also performed for one year with the award winning Extreme Cheer Hip Hop Dance Team. Sarah attended the Plymouth State University Winter Dance Intensive for three seasons and had the opportunity to take master dance classes with Joan Weigers, Amanda Schiller and Megan Hiltz just to name a few.

She was also invited to perform at the PSU Dance Premier with her senior dance team. Sarah has traveled into Boston to continue taking master classes with Jeanette Neill. Sarah has attended the New England Region American College Dance Festival for two years where she was able to take a variety of classes from teachers including Martha Myers, Bebe Miller, Bilbob Brown, Adele Myers and Ann Ross.

Sarah recently received her Dance Education Certificate from Northern Essex Community College and continues to work towards getting her Associates Degree in Dance Education. Kerry is proud to have Sarah join her staff for her first year of teaching.

 

Tori Bacheller
Dance Instructor

Tori has been dancing since the age of 2 at Kerry’s Dance Center. She is a member of the KDC Senior Dance Team and has traveled throughout New England, even competing her own award winning choreography. She has been an assistant teacher at KDC for the last several years and is interested in working with special needs children. Most recently Tori attended the Plymouth State University Summer Dance Intensive and Winter Seminars.

She is a dancewear & costume model for “Design Works” and “Dansco” as well as a graduate of ACT, a modeling and acting school based in Rhode Island. She is an honor roll student at Pinkerton Academy in Derry, NH and is excited to join the KDC staff.

Lena DeCosta
Dance Instructor

Lena is thrilled to join our staff. Lena has high honors at Tabernacle Christian School in Litchfield, NH. She has been a student at KDC for 14 years and an assistant teacher for the last 4 years. She is a member of the Senior Dance Team and a Student Choreography winner many times over, achieving the High Score Award for her own choreography at competitions. Dance Troupe International chose her to represent KDC as a Dance Ambassador.

Lena has received Special Awards at both the Dance For Life Competition, as well as the Kaleidoscope Dance Competition. She has attended many winter seminars at Plymouth State University as well as the PSU week long Summer Dance Intensive for the last 2 years.

In the future she plans to pursue art, photography, and dance. Not only do her artistic talents shine in dance, but also on the front of the KDC T-shirts! Welcome Lena!
