Melvinetta Lanseigne
Dance Instructor
Melvinetta began dancing and performing at the age of 14 with the Hemphill High School Dance/Drill Team in Hemphill, Texas and later went on to join the Central College Cheer/Dance Team in McPherson, Kansas where she received her Associates Degree in Communications & Social Work. Mel continued performing in the Plaistow Co-op Show for 3 years before she was asked to join Steppin’ Out Dance Academy in 1990. After assisting for 1 year, she was given the opportunity to teach. Mel has worked with students from the age of 2 up to adults in both recreational and competitive team classes.
She has studied Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Modern, Hip Hop, Spanish Dance and Acro. Mel has competed and performed at many regional and national competitions, such as Disneyworld and Universal Studios in Florida, the Portsmouth Percussive Dance Festival and in the Jeannette Neill Repertory Concert. Her students have also performed at Disneyworld and Universal Studios and competed at several regional and national competitions, many winning High Score, Overall and Cash Awards. She has also won the Teacher of the Year award in 2005 at the Star Systems Competition.
Mel was certified by Fitness Resources in 1998 and completed the Dance Educators of America Certification at UNLV in 2001. She has attended Danzjam Conventions since 2004, including the 2005 New York City Summer Teacher Intensive Program in which she performed at the Danzjam showcase. Mel has taken Master Classes from many teachers including Al Gilbert, Nan Giordano, Charles Kelly Raymond Lukens, Drika Overton, James Franklin, Sue Casey, Jaqui Young, Chad Levy, Dana Fisch, Bryan Perry, Jeannette Neill, Alan Collier, Bryan Steele and Kelly Williams to name a few. We are excited to have Mel join KDC this season.
