Hi Dancers!

      From the sounds of things everyone really enjoyed their Spring Break – especially since we had some very nice weather!  Its good to be back – we only have 5 lessons until recitals!  I can’t believe another dance season is coming to a close so quickly!

       Congratulations to our May and June Dancers of the Month!  They are Georgia Adyns, Amanda Holden, Megan Webb, Maggie Harrington, Calianne Letellier, and Julia Youkstetter.  These dancers come to class each week full of enthusiasm -  and for me – that’s the most important part because my parents told me “do what you love, and you’ll love what you do”.  

       The KDC Dance Teams did very well at their 1st competition in Nashua.  The Junior Team came home with 3 Golds and 1 High Gold.  The Teens earned 1 High Silver and 3 Golds, and the Seniors took home 2 Gold and 2 High Gold.  Nice job Dancers!  The next competiton is this Saturday, May 4th at Pinkerton.  Please refer to your previous e-mail for exact times.  Break a leg!  Our community service performance is Saturday May 18th at 1-2:15pm at the Rockingham County Nursing Home.  Please make EVERY effort to attend.  Its SO important to give back!

       Statements have been e-mailed.  They include May AND June tuition.  Please be advised that the balance due MUST BE PAID IN FULL before you can purchase recital tickets.

       Recital tickets will go on sale in studio 1 on Saturday May 11th 9am to noon.  Adult tickets are $16, children (12 & under) are $11, same as last year.  Recital T-shirts will also be on sale.  Its KDC’s 25th Year!  And Miss Lena DeCosta did the beautiful artwork for us once again.  After the May 12th ticket day, you can fill out a ticket request form and leave it in the studio with your check payable to Kerry’s Dance Center.  The next best available tickets will be sent home with your dancer at their next lesson.  Tickets will be available at rehearsals and at recital at the door.  There are PLENTY of tickets and not a bad seat in the theatre - so don’t stress.

       KDC will be closed Monday May 27th to remember our loved ones on Memorial Day.  Thank a Veteran!

       Attached is the schedule and a registration form for next dance season.  Please return your registration form and costume deposit as soon as possible to reserve your 1st choice class.  First come, first served.  If the class is full when I receive your form, I will call to offer you another class.  Otherwise you are all set.  Classes begin again Wednesday September 4th, 2013 for our 26th year!

      Student Choreographers have until MAY 15th to audition.  Your “own creation” must be complete (3 mins or under) and all dancers in the piece must audition.  Winners will be announced via e-mail and will perform in the recital.  The May 15th deadline will be enforced as we need to get the program ready.  Let me know when you would like to audition. 

      Photo Day went very well.  I can’t wait to see the finished product!!  We should have photos back to you at the beginning of June.  They will be sent home during your regular lessons.   Any photos not received by Monday June 10th (the last day of dance) will be available for pick up backstage at rehearsals.

       Recitals are Saturday June 15th at 1pm and 5pm at Pinkerton Academy, Derry NH.  Please note the slight time changes made to accomodate our high school graduates from area schools.  Rehearsals are  June 11th and 12th 4-9pm.  Your exact times will be provided in the schedule which I will e-mail to you by Friday May 10th.

       Graduating Seniors – I still need a baby picture and current photo from many of you as soon as possible.  I will return these to you after I scan them for our “Goodbye” dance.

       Please be reminded that there is a $5 discount on your recital DVD order received by June 8th.  Attached is the order form for a Standard or Blu-ray DVD.  Complete the attached and mail it with your check by June 8th to Video Talent in Portsmouth for your savings.

       Dance Team Auditions will be held in Studio 1 on Wednesday May 15th.  For ALL age groups times will be as follows: Tap 4:45-5:30pm; Jazz 5:30-6:15pm; Ballet 6:15-7pm; Hip Hop 7-7:45pm.  Miss Kerry’s Wednesday Lyrical class will run as usual but IN STUDIO 1.

       Alex Bacheller will be here next for her guest teach on Monday May 13th 6:45-7:30pm in Studio 1.

       Summer Dance Camp registrations are attached.  I hope you can join us Monday July 29th through Friday August 2nd 9am to noon for ages 7-13.  Last year was a BLAST!  Come join the fun at KDC!

         Friend Day is June 3rd through 7th so don’t forget to bring your friend to dance class (free of charge of course).

          Recital help is needed as usual!  I could never put on this production without all the wonderful parents who volunteer to help each year.  If you help – you will be given a free recital ticket.  Please e-mail me if you are willing to do one of the following jobs:

1.  Usher (wear a white top and black bottom and start one hour prior to the show time to pass out programs,collect tickets and help people find their seats);

2.  Audience Chaperone (sit in the “student seating” part of the audience to keep an eye on the students who are able to watch half of the show.)

 3.  Backstage (dressing room monitors).

Spring feels like it is finally here.  Its about time!  Don’t let “Spring Fever” keep you from your dance classes though.  We only have 8 lessons left before recital so your attendance is important if you want to be well prepared for the stage.

Graduating Seniors  – I need a baby photo and a recent photo from you by May 1st.  I will return the photos to you after I scan them for your “Goodbye Dance”.  Get your College Scholarship Application from me at your next class.  It is due by May 15th.  The recipient will be announced at recital.

If you are 12 & older and you would like to be considered for an assistant teaching position for the 2013/2014 dance season, please ask me for an application.

Student Choreography auditions can be scheduled anytime you are ready.  Please be sure your music is appropriate.  I can help you with editing.  Once your dance is complete (3 minutes or less) let me know and you can audition when you are already here for a regular class as long as all dancers in the piece are present.  The winners will perform in the recital. Break a leg!

Friend Day will be June 3rd through June 7th.  You can bring a friend to class with you to watch or participate, free of charge.  Have them wear comfy clothes and clean sneakers.  I’m sure they’ll have fun!

Summer Dance Camp will be held Monday July 29 through Friday August 2 from 9am to 12pm.  Join us for dancing, swimming, crafts, modeling, cooking, eating and more.  The cost is only $100 for the week and $75 for each additional family member.  Mark your calendar now and a Dance Camp Registration Form will be sent home soon.

April Tuition is now due.  Statements were e-mailed on April 1st.  The balance shown in the lower right corner of the statement is due by April 15th to avoid a late fee.

Congratulations to the Dancers of the Month!  They are Abigail Conway, Emma Plater, and Chantel Robillard.  Keep that enthusiasm flowing ladies!

The 1st Dance Team Competition – Sophisticated Dance Challenge - is this Saturday April 6th at Nashua High NORTH. (There is a South High School).  All team members were notified by e-mail with the address and time schedule.  There is no charge for spectators who wish to watch the competition however, KDC could be disqualified if you video or use flash photography.  Tues 4/2 and Wed 4/3 are dress rehearsals for the teams during regular lessons.  Be sure to bring all your costumes, tights, shoes, masks, etc. and WRITE YOUR NAME IN EVERYTHING.

Photo Order Forms are now due.  Photos are Friday April 12 and Saturday April 13 in Studio 1.  No regular lessons will be held.  Please come in your 1st costume with hair and make-up done.  See the time schedule that was attached to your e-mail.  Please be on time and help me stay on schedule.

Spring Vacation is April 22nd through April 26th.  KDC is closed.  Enjoy!

On Monday April 15th Alex Bacheller will be here to guest teach for the “Moonlight Sonata” piece.  There are only 3 more classes with her before recitals so be sure to attend.

Dance Team Auditions will be held Wednesday May 15th in Studio 1.  All ages (Jr., Teen & Sr.) will audition at the same time. Times will be: Tap 4:45-5:30pm; Jazz 5:30-6:15pm; Ballet 6:15pm-7pm; Hip Hop 7-7:45pm.  Seniors not returning next season can have the night off.  No regular team lessons will be held so all team dancers are available to audition.  (Miss Kerry’s Lyrical class will be held as usual from 4-4:45pm but in Studio 1).  Bring your shoes, your energy, and a great attitude!  All dancers will be notified by Friday May 17th via e-mail.  Please note that only 5 dancers are leaving the Senior Team.

Hi Dancers!

       First I want to thank all of you again for your donations to “Wheelchair Van for Bruce”.  I made those deposits to his account at the People’s Bank in Raymond on January 18th.  The total raised by KDC was $755.00!  A special thank you goes to Meghan Adams, Bella Nichols, and Grace Pascucci.  They made bracelets and sold them at Sandown North School to raise $180.00 of that total deposit.  That’s a lot of bracelets and a lot of hard work.  They proved that even an 8 or 9 year old can make a big difference!  Thank you so much!

       I apologize for the late cancellation of classes on Monday January 28th.  That snow storm started AFTER I was already in Studio #1 teaching my classes.  It was too late to send an e-mail.  As soon as I had a break the girls helped me make some quick calls to cancel Tori’s classes in Studio #2 which did not begin until 5pm and notify my 15+ classes that we would be closing early.  Please feel free to take any classes that are convenient for you and age appropriate to make up for those cancellations.  The schedule is on the website at www.Kerrysdancecenter.com or on the bulletin boards in the studio waiting rooms.  Sorry about any confusion or inconvenience I caused you.  Thanks for your understanding!

       Congratulations to the February dancers of the month.  They are Addie Koener, Naomi Marshall and Anna Martin.  I hope your enthusiasm is contagious because, as Martha Graham stated, dance is mostly about the passion!

       ”Mommy Dance” practices will be held Friday February 8 & 22 in studio 2 from 4:45-5:45pm and Thursdays February 7 & 21 in studio 1 from 6:45-7:15pm.  We have 12 participants now and any other moms interested are welcome to join in! 

       Monday 15+ students participating in the “Stepford Housewives” choreography are reminded that Alex Bacheller will be here to continue guest teaching from 6:45-7:30pm on February 18, March 11, April 1, May 6 and June 3.

       Statements for February were e-mailed this morning.  The balance shown in the lower right corner is due in full by February 15th to avoid a $10 late fee.  Please let me know if you have any questions.

       Dance Team Permission Slips are due back to me by February 11th signed and with the entry fee(s) for the April 5th-7th competition in Manchester.  And thank you to all the parents who have stopped in to sign the master permission slip for this same competition.
