From the sounds of things everyone really enjoyed their Spring Break – especially since we had some very nice weather! Its good to be back – we only have 5 lessons until recitals! I can’t believe another dance season is coming to a close so quickly!
Congratulations to our May and June Dancers of the Month! They are Georgia Adyns, Amanda Holden, Megan Webb, Maggie Harrington, Calianne Letellier, and Julia Youkstetter. These dancers come to class each week full of enthusiasm - and for me – that’s the most important part because my parents told me “do what you love, and you’ll love what you do”.
The KDC Dance Teams did very well at their 1st competition in Nashua. The Junior Team came home with 3 Golds and 1 High Gold. The Teens earned 1 High Silver and 3 Golds, and the Seniors took home 2 Gold and 2 High Gold. Nice job Dancers! The next competiton is this Saturday, May 4th at Pinkerton. Please refer to your previous e-mail for exact times. Break a leg! Our community service performance is Saturday May 18th at 1-2:15pm at the Rockingham County Nursing Home. Please make EVERY effort to attend. Its SO important to give back!
Statements have been e-mailed. They include May AND June tuition. Please be advised that the balance due MUST BE PAID IN FULL before you can purchase recital tickets.
Recital tickets will go on sale in studio 1 on Saturday May 11th 9am to noon. Adult tickets are $16, children (12 & under) are $11, same as last year. Recital T-shirts will also be on sale. Its KDC’s 25th Year! And Miss Lena DeCosta did the beautiful artwork for us once again. After the May 12th ticket day, you can fill out a ticket request form and leave it in the studio with your check payable to Kerry’s Dance Center. The next best available tickets will be sent home with your dancer at their next lesson. Tickets will be available at rehearsals and at recital at the door. There are PLENTY of tickets and not a bad seat in the theatre - so don’t stress.
KDC will be closed Monday May 27th to remember our loved ones on Memorial Day. Thank a Veteran!
Attached is the schedule and a registration form for next dance season. Please return your registration form and costume deposit as soon as possible to reserve your 1st choice class. First come, first served. If the class is full when I receive your form, I will call to offer you another class. Otherwise you are all set. Classes begin again Wednesday September 4th, 2013 for our 26th year!
Student Choreographers have until MAY 15th to audition. Your “own creation” must be complete (3 mins or under) and all dancers in the piece must audition. Winners will be announced via e-mail and will perform in the recital. The May 15th deadline will be enforced as we need to get the program ready. Let me know when you would like to audition.
Photo Day went very well. I can’t wait to see the finished product!! We should have photos back to you at the beginning of June. They will be sent home during your regular lessons. Any photos not received by Monday June 10th (the last day of dance) will be available for pick up backstage at rehearsals.
Recitals are Saturday June 15th at 1pm and 5pm at Pinkerton Academy, Derry NH. Please note the slight time changes made to accomodate our high school graduates from area schools. Rehearsals are June 11th and 12th 4-9pm. Your exact times will be provided in the schedule which I will e-mail to you by Friday May 10th.
Graduating Seniors – I still need a baby picture and current photo from many of you as soon as possible. I will return these to you after I scan them for our “Goodbye” dance.
Please be reminded that there is a $5 discount on your recital DVD order received by June 8th. Attached is the order form for a Standard or Blu-ray DVD. Complete the attached and mail it with your check by June 8th to Video Talent in Portsmouth for your savings.
Dance Team Auditions will be held in Studio 1 on Wednesday May 15th. For ALL age groups times will be as follows: Tap 4:45-5:30pm; Jazz 5:30-6:15pm; Ballet 6:15-7pm; Hip Hop 7-7:45pm. Miss Kerry’s Wednesday Lyrical class will run as usual but IN STUDIO 1.
Alex Bacheller will be here next for her guest teach on Monday May 13th 6:45-7:30pm in Studio 1.
Summer Dance Camp registrations are attached. I hope you can join us Monday July 29th through Friday August 2nd 9am to noon for ages 7-13. Last year was a BLAST! Come join the fun at KDC!
Friend Day is June 3rd through 7th so don’t forget to bring your friend to dance class (free of charge of course).
Recital help is needed as usual! I could never put on this production without all the wonderful parents who volunteer to help each year. If you help – you will be given a free recital ticket. Please e-mail me if you are willing to do one of the following jobs:
1. Usher (wear a white top and black bottom and start one hour prior to the show time to pass out programs,collect tickets and help people find their seats);
2. Audience Chaperone (sit in the “student seating” part of the audience to keep an eye on the students who are able to watch half of the show.)
3. Backstage (dressing room monitors).
